Animation Techniques
Animation in Maya has a simple format called 'keyframes', these are points that you can create on the timeline that will keep any objects in your scene in their current position. Once creating a different keyframe and selecting it, you can move your objects to a new position and their placement will be saved. When playing this, you will see the objects move from the first position to the second, this can be basic movements along an axis or complex actions using further keyframes. An example of this would be a chair falling over: The chair's initial position is upright so you would set a keyframe at the point it begins to fall. Then you can set a keyframe later on the timeline and you can re-position the chair on the floor. When reviewing the animation, you may find that you need to add one or more keyframes between the two to make the fall more realistic.
In this product, movement of objects will be less, on the other hand, we will be using this animation technique on the camera. We will be creating a first person experience of the environment, which requires use of Maya's cameras. The camera in Maya acts the same as any other object on the software, you set different keyframes and change its position to reflect the movement of the character.
